Hello,
to save some precious space on my server, I wanted to enable zlib
compression in dovecot. I followed these instructions:

On finding no deb package for GRASS (GIS s/w) 6.0 version, I tried to
compile it from source. On giving "./configure" it says header file for
zlib not found. I could correct that. Then it says "zlib" not found. I
tried to find out its location, but could not. On giving foll

there is a message to please install Compress::Zlib. However, when I try to
do with CPAN, I get the follwoing:

Hello
I have a program that needs Zlib installed. I checked using dpkg
and found that zlib1g and zlib1g-dev was installed. Whenever I tried to
use the program I get the following: ‘Zlib support must be enabled
on your server’. How do I enable it even though dpkg says it is
installed

I'm not completely sure about that.
The currently released version of gzip
I believe (not sure for a fact, but fairly sure) that zlib has nothing
to do with this size limitation... it has something to do with kernel
2.2.x. Files larger than 2gb can't exist with 2.2.x. I believe that
for this to work though, not only must you be running 2.4.x, you must
also compile
i have just question
It is possible to recompile the zlib in order to create some gzipped files
which are bigger than 2 Giga bytes ??
something like that.
#define _FILE_OFFSET_BITS 64
#define _LARGEFILE_SOURCE
#define _LARGEFILE64_SOURCE
