You've tried it? I know there were some interface changes in 2.4 but I
didn't remember what all they affected. I see there's an alsaconf
package though, so maybe it'll be pretty easy to get alsa working...

to work for me (I don't know why) and I don't want to use the tgz. I will
give it a try with the 2.4?6 kernel.

Has anyone gotten this working? I recently upgraded to the pre-compiled
version of 2.4.5 on woody and had the same problem described in this
thread on the kernel mailing list (which provides no satisfactory fix
