It'll be in when the X maintainer decides that his packages are stable

Hello World,
I wonder when XFree86 4.0.1 comes into woody.
And when it has come in, whether dselect will update it or not.

Hi there..,
I am having trouble running gnome calendar under XFree86 v 4.0.1. I get
the error:
Gdk-WARNING **: Missing charsets in FontSet creation
Gdk-WARNING **: ISO8859-1
Gdk-WARNING **: ISO8859-1
This repeats a few times then the program segfaults. Same thing happens

Hey folks,
thanks for all the folks to those you gave me hints with loading font
modules in 4.0.1. I have found that after switching to a console on a
virtual terminal (out of X) and back to X again, I lose my mouse! I've got
a logitec mouseman that is 'autodetected' by X and works great. Howev
Hi there,
You can actually install the XFree4.0.1 release from the binaries
on the XFree86.org site. All works like a dream, you don't need to compile
from source! However it screws up the package management of course! But so
does compiling from source!
Also I suggest that one runs 'update
I have a r128 (and a matrox mga) w/xfree 4.0.1 also, I too see these
errors every time I startx. It's actually comforting to hear someone else
having the same problem ;o)

is also much improved for 4.0.1 than just flat 4.0.

I did the same thing you did and I get those same errors. It doesn't seem
to hurt anything so I always i
Howdy folks,
I successfully compiled XFree 4.0.1 from source with some very helpful
suggestions from a /. post. I've compiled alot of source, but never
anything this big. anyway, it went fine, everything in /usr/local/X11R6/
and all the configs are fine and I even get the xserver to start and

I had the same problem. It turned out I needed

in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extentsions, and then:
then I had to update /etc/X11/XF86Config:

Hi, I recently compiled x4.0.1 from source and all seemed to work well. I did
this to get better accel from my tnt2.
When I go to start E now I get:
"Xserver does not support Shape extension
Your server is out of date or misconfigured"
Has anyone seen this error before, and if so, do you kno
The xfree86 maintainer's website [1] clearly states why
no debs are available, when they will get available and for whom
they are made available in the first instance.
kind regards,
