Well, I don't know what's the problem. When trying
qiv image.jpeg
get this
Gdk-ERROR **: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
serial 115 error_code 8 request_code 2 minor_code 0
Anyway, I tried xli and it works.

don't think so... "visual id" and "window id" refer to different

default visual id: 0x23
visual:
visual id:0x23
class:TrueColor
depth:24 planes
when I run xdpyinfo. So that is not the problem. Any other idea?

/usr/bin/qiv -z /home/lorand/Wallpaper1024/download3.jpeg
else

Hi,
I installed Debian without any difficulties but I'm not amused with the
grey loginscreen from XDM. Someone told me to change this using xbanner
but that didn't satisfy me. Another user pointed me to some backgrounds
for XDM at http://x.themes.org . I took a nice Debian background (

Add something like:
/usr/X11R6/bin/xv -root -quit /usr/include/X11/pixmaps/background.xpm
or:
/usr/local/bin/X11/xpmroot /usr/include/X11/pixmaps/background.xpm
to the file /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xse
With the xbanner package.
