How can I instal x and KDE so i will have a normal graphical interface and live

I'm trying to get the euro symbol working on my box. I read the
Euro-HOWTO and got it working in the console, but for X the HOWTO is a
little scarce. This is what i've got so far.
I think I got the keyboard configured OK:
$ xmodmap -pk | grep -i euro
