Now I have, again, wrong fonts that have no antialiasing. How can I get

Hello all,
I've been using debian for ages it seems now and have one question that's
been nagging at me for a while.
Through X and in some cases on a local tty I get some odd characters.
This usually happens in a terminal in X (any of them) and when viewing web
pages through firefox or epiphany.
OK, so this is the real fix. Move
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/X11/75dpi/"
to the top (above the misc). I don't understand why, but this gives
great fonts for xemacs21.
I've revised the web page accordingly.

It might be bug #223352.
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=223352
See if downgrading to fontconfig 2.2.1-8 helps. If you trust me, you
can download a copy from
http://www.uhoreg.ca/fontconfig_2.2.1-8_i386.deb
If that works, you may want to add to the bug report.

I bet you have xfonts-100dpi installed somewhere! Try remove the package
or put path to xfonts-75
I am using xfs and xfstt. After the most recent apt-get update and
upgrade to frozen, the default fonts in X are huge. X and xfs are at
3.3.6-10.
What happened and how can I get back to some reasonable size fonts?

I have another problem with the fonts in X.
I installed the freefont package but gimp doesn't find the fonts. I simply
installed the .deb and didn't make anything else.
The fonts are in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/freefont/
Should I run some program to gimp recognize the fonts? (I already rebooted

Hi!
I installed debian on my laptop (yes, I know that there is a laptop list,
but I think the topic is more general) and I had a problem.
The default font in X (used in netscape and jpilot) are too big. It's good
when you use 1024x768 resolution, but my laptop only supports 800x600.

I have just installed xfonts-intl-european.deb.
According to xset man,

This is likely a couple of problems. One is that you should have an

I had a similar problem on some web pages but this fixed it

Besides all the other problems I've been having with this
unreliable piece of crap called Netscape (Communicator),
I'm having problem with fonts that are scaled to a size
where they are extremely blocky.
What is strange is that if I change the font size preferences,
the blocky fonts don't change

Hi all,
I am having some problem with emacs. Can anyone tell me how to make

I'm using emacs19 with slink (2.1). I use font-lock mode to syntax

looks hideous; this is because -adobe-courier-medium-i-normal only
exists as a scalable font. I'd much

Hi there. Appologies for re-hashing this.
Just upgraded my system for the first time in a couple of months with slink.
Everything mostly went right, but I have had some problems with X. When
starting it, my windowmanager (windowmaker) complains with a message like:

Hi
I have a 21" monitor at 1600x1200 resolution. the default fonts on
various X clients is too small to read. Is there a way to make
it larger as in win95 when selecting large v.s. small font.
I use a default 100 dpi directory.
thanks
