I think the problem is as follows: As of xfree-3.3, XF86Setup generates the modeline for the 1024x768 resolution with a clock of 85 MHz instead of the 80 MHz previously used. This is basically a good thing because you generally get higher refreshing rates. However, they only could do this because

Please, is there someone here that has an Debian box, whith X-Windows (Xfree 3.3) and an Trio 64 video card, runing whith 16 bit colours? I ask becouse I have problems to work whith that configuration (in eight bit colours I have not problem) :the resolution go down very much and the screen flicke
