Samba supports acting as wins server. It should be enought to install
samba (apt-get install samba) and insert/uncomment wins support=yes in
/etc/smb.conf. be aware that this installs a smb-Fileserver as well, so
you should rem
Yes - use samba which is perfectly happy to serve WINS.

since I installed ppp-2.3.3-5 my Windows 95 box that dials-in to the
Linux box can't get the WINS server address set.
In /etc/ppp/options I have a line that says:
ms-wins x.w.y.z
but after the connection is stablished the WINS server information is
not passed to the dial-up client
