On my pc it helped to set convert-meta on in inputrc. This basically turns
on 8-bit characters on the console. For more info see man 3 readline.

the Version 1.4-3 of libapache-mod-ldap seems to have some Problems with
umlauts "üöä" and so on.
It cuts the login names at the postion of the first umlaut...
Are there any workarounds or packages with do ldap auth for apache with
umlauts?

Nun bin ich bei Debian 2.2 mit Xfree86 4.02 und KDE 2.1.
Mein Problem sind jetzt die Umlaute. Unter xterm und StarOffice kann die
Tastatur keine Umlaute oder kein "ß" erzeugen. Aus vorhandenen Texten
