with hplip 1.6.10 recently installed.

It's been working almost flawlessly
I am trying to get an HP Deskjet 880C working under linux over USB and
my linux box (running sid) can't seem to find/access it. I was actually
able to cat /dev/usb/lp0 and get something back (an Input/Output error).
However, no auto-magical configuration program seems to want to detect
it. Is

I've gotten a Epson Stylus Color 880 that hooked up straightforward under
windows connected to the USB port, but so far it is not working under Debian
with a 2.4 kernel. Per all the howtos I've read, I created the file
/dev/usb/lp0 using mknod, in /etc/printcap I put as the first entry:
lp0 :\
