Hi, I assume you desktop system is not powered on 24 h per day. So you possibly want to install anacron and logrotate. anacron will make sure that a daily job is run daily --- even if you power up only for an hour a day. logrotate will backup and compress your logfiles and remove the old ones

Everyone :) I am using Debian testing/unstable. I wished to get rid of klogd,sysklogd, cron/anacron - I did so. Every damn service pointing to scheduled tasks got uninstalled, too (slogrotate, and so on). My question now is, if this surgery is without complications if regarded from the operation
