FYI, unless something has changed recently, ide-scsi is not working with
2.6. I don't use any SCSI stuff, or SCSI emulation and everything works
fine. You need a new cdrecord, and pass dev=/dev/hdd to make it work.

Of course; tons of people are running it. It's what I use for most of
my daily work. My laptop, alas, is a little unstable under 2.

I can not see the configuration files that are mentioed in
kernel-source-2.6.0-test2/Documentation/pnp.txt. As a result, I can not
configure the isa pnp cards in the way I want them to be.
In praticular, should /driver be under the root fs or is it to be
found in /proc? If it is under /root
2 pointers that helped me when trying 2.6.0-test2 for the first time:
1) The 2.6 document drawn up by Dave Jones,
http://lwn.net/Articles/39901/.
2) Noticing that 2.6 uses the module-init-tools package.
I learned about it only when things didn't work. Hopefully others will

Possibly non-existent or swap device?

Hello,
Under a fresh kernel 2.6.0-test2, alsamixer says

Looking in source, it seems that alsamixer needs a conf file (DATADIR/alsa/alsa.conf)

contains '#define CONFIG_MODVERSIONS 1' only. However, there is no

I use lpr with magicfilter for printing and it works well with kernel

With 2.4.60-test2, I can only print plain text; other types of file

The log file says:
lp: filter 'f' terminated (termsig=101)
I can't imagine why this happens.

Hi there,
I have a NVidia GeForce2 MX 400 card and I'm trying to use kernel 2.6.0-test2
with it. The kernel compiles fine but I don't have X. I tried recompiling the
driver I was using with kernel 2.4.18 but I get the message that the kernel
doesn't support 2.6.x and n
I've just compiled this kernel, and I am running with it. Some issues I had
before with test1 are gone (for example I was unable to unmount my ethernet
card upon reboot).
I have to say that everything seem to be working well, that ACPI seem to work
(although no thermal monitoring in my machine)
