At this point I have again run out of possible solutions:

Hi,
Hello,
Not because I gave up on Sendmail, but because of another problem (for some
reason (I believe it had to do with uninstalling Sendmail which I did in
order to start from scratch and install the package from source) when I shut
down and restarted, Apache was unavailable, all the files are in

hi ya michael
i gave up on any/all pre-packaged sendmail-*.deb
if you download/install the latest from sendmail.org
or exim.org or postix.or getc..
you should be able to get sendmail working out of the
box
cd /usr/local/src
tar zxvfp sendmail-*.tgz
cd sendmail-*

Anyone know if exim supports SMTP AUTH?
I've been using Sendmail on my woody box simply because I could not get
SMTP AUTH working with postfix.
any luck with either?
BTW - if you check the bug tracking database

it's probably not what you want to hear, another user suggested
trying exim. I can tell you I first encountered this "problem" back in
May
Well I'm listening. If I can't get it set up reasonably soon I will probably
go with Exim.

Hello,

I am having some difficulty getting Sendmail up and running.
I installed the program apparently with no problems. I ran: sendmailconfig
after the install, also apparently no problems, no errors reported. But
nothing works either. So I looked in /etc/mail/ and there is no sendmail.c
I have a slightly odd configuration that I would like to set up.
My system at home is set up so that it is not connected to the net
all the time and currently my sendmail at home and at work are set up
smtp only. The server here at work just hammers away trying to dump
it's queue until I
