Hi. I tried to install Debian 4.0R3 on an Acer M1610 machine and the
sata_sis driver ignores the HDD, prohibiting installation. SUSE linux
sata_sis works fine but SAX2 wrecks the video beyond all hope. How can I
get Debian to recognize my sata HDD?

I'm building my first PC, it will run Debian of course.
I'm buying the parts off of newegg.com and noticed that many of the
newer DVD burners have a SATA interface. I'm looking at getting both
the HDDs and the DVD burner with a SATA interface, but wasn't sure if it
could make the process more

I didn't explicitly say this, I have not purchased the servers yet so lspci is
tough to do ;-)

Hi,
Does anyone know if sarge installers support SATA chipset on Dell's 420SC?
I'm told that there is a CERC SATA RAID controller that is not supported and
I'm fine with that (would rather use md for raid). I haven't been able to
find out yet from Dell techs which chipset is used.
Thanks for
Hello, I'm researching sata support. Thinking about buying a new system
and going all SATA. The only docs I've seen on SATA support are in new
(2.4.21 and 2.6.0) kernels. Additionally, the links I've seen seem to
indicate that people are installing debian on an EIDE drive, then
