There are dozens (if not more) window managers in Debian. This command
will list them: 'apt-cache search x-window-manager'
I personally use sawfish, since I love the

Okay, I'll try this, given time, over the next week
and report back. Question: how do I see what options
my windowmaker ( installed from a deb ) was built

I use debian unstable (up to date 18 Oct) and never encountered this
behavior. You will have to narrow down the set of conditions that
triggers this.
You should recompile wmaker from source without any ./configure options
and without any modification to wconfig.h
Install it and create a new test u

I had this same problem on testing/unstable as well,
but didn't associate it with the selection of
omnipresent on a window. However, I just tried it,
and sure enough that does send my cpu to full
utilization and unchecking drops it back down to
normal.

We got another report about this from another user, but couldn't

Also I don't recall anything changed in the dock/clip code lately.
Maybe it was there before, but you just happened to trigger the
necessary conditions we haven't found yet.
Also we don't use the debian packages, but

Hi Marcin,
F12 on wmaker -> window managers -> info panel...
wmaker says it's Gnome compliant. There are a pair of options in
WPrefs, at the far right of the menu, regarding compatiblity with Gnome.
Hope that you like Gnome

Yes, I have used WM and GNOME together. It works fine, but there is some
overlap between the two (the panel and Wharf do a lot of the same stuff, for
instance) It works fine though.
Just start GNOME, and tell it that you want Window Maker as you window
manager in the Contol Center.

Hi:
If you haven't uninstalled WindowMaker, you must be able to switch your WM
by opening Gnome Control Center window and in window manager section you
just choose one of WMs listed.
