For those of you that are not aware of my problem, see below.
I have taken the risk of trashing the redhat system by copying the
following libraries from my debian system.
libc
libm
libdl
libtcl
I ran ldconfig after copying the [more recent debian] libraries to the
redhat system. I also removed
