Thanks to everyone who told me where to find mplayer for Debian (I'd deleted the thread by mistake so have just found the replies in the archive). Thanks to being pointed to the link to Marillat's site I have now got mplayer, though at present I'm getting better results with DVDs using ogle. Anth
