If ever you want to upgrade to Etch, the release notes make it pretty
clear that you first must upgrade Sarge to a 2.6 kernel.

initrd program has changed.

I use sarge, do you use etch?
I have /etc/mkinitrd/modules, aic7xxx is not listed, no modules is listed
