Cut & paste saves typing and that is enough for most
purposes.

that you use /usr/lib/sendmail as the executable targe

Changed little, if any, from years ago.
sendmail links to exim. Should be no harm
in using exim rather than sendmail.

Exim can already be executed by a user for sending email (this is what
the MUAs such as "mailx" use to send a message):

Please explain what you are trying to achieve. Do you want to run the
daemon as a user or just send some mail?
