I'm currently stuck on the console redirection once setup starts. What were your steps to alter the configuration to redirect everything to serial for PXE boot?

This pretty much covers the basics for installing debian.
A couple of points. You do need to alter the serial configuration and copy it to
pxeconfig to enable the console on ttyS0. You don't need to worry about the crossover

I have just succeeded in installing debian (sarge) on a 715n.
Are you still having difficulties in installing debian?
