Here's more info. If I stop the apache server everything seems to be
normal:

Well - upon more investigation I found this to be in the debian bug report
logs - #12245. This report talks about bogus +/- buffers free readings.
Sorry about the posts - I guess I should have dug a little further. Still
doesn't explain my out of memory errors - hmmm.
