Hi, You could try dpkg-reconfigure-plow
xserver-xfree86
And select frame buffer disabled. With a similar (to
yours) nvidia chip that worked for me. I can't get my
new nvidia to work at all though. Good luck.

It's not so much that as that tcsh should be added correctly to
/etc/shells as part of the post-install process. That, at least IMHO,
