Hello,
I use XFree86 server from xserver-xfree86 package and it works fine
on a NEC VERSA L320 laptop.
You'll find my /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file has attached file .

I'm actually already on X 4.2.1, using debian unstable (I should have
said before..). I'm using all the latest packages.
