I have never seen this not work properly! If it does not, you
have not set it up right.

I had this same thing happening to me. The problem seems to be some
kind of conflict with gpm (the terminal mouse package). I found that
if I turned stopped gpm my mouse worked fine in X.
To stop gpm I switch to a virtual consol via Ctrl^ Alt^ F1, logged in
and issued the comand killall gpm.
this is the question i know the answer to!
ps2 mice are at device psaux
when you do the xf86setup you need to change /dev/mouse to /dev psaux then hit
"a" for apply...
i imagine a symlink between /dev/mouse and /dev/psaux might do the trick too?

I have the same problems on my computer
For nfs: uninstall everything using nfs
For gpm: Change your gpm.conf to
device=/dev/psaux

repeat_type=
type=ps2

Check your config step by step (I'm sure it works because I have a

What I did was that I removed gpm: dpkg -r gpm
Now works in X. But not of much use, since I have no applications (see message
with subject: no visible applications)

Thanks, I was just waiting for this to disconnect my winbox and try to fix
