A "new Adaptec 1505 scsi card"? Well, this card could hardly be new. Anyway! This card is incapable of auto-detect. You *must* supply kernel (or module if you're loading as a module) options to tell the driver what IO, IRQ, etc. you want to use. For instance, in my /etc/lilo.conf file I've got:

You need to force detection at boot with "append=x,x,x,x," added in your /etc/lilo.conf file. Documentation should be in the man lilo file. I'm not at my seat at home right now so I can't be more specific. I have the same card and it works fine when you do this. Michael Heyes Bill Leach <
