i use avifile for divx, compiled it on a few different potato machines and 1 woody machine(hasnt been updated since july) without any trouble.. the only thing id suggest with avifile is to redirect all output to /dev/null otherwise it pukes all kinds of crap to the terminal chewing up cpu. nate O

yes. search for avifile on freshmeat. There's also an xmms-avi plugin (still in a pretty primitive state) and an xmps-avi plugin (distributed with avifile). Expect to have to muck around w/ it a bit, as avifile's autoconf is a bit...lacking.. Oh, and you'll need to get the win32 DLLs for it
