PROBLEM: 8-bit characters (such as those in 'man latin1') show as
chinese in krxvt, and as pseudo-greek on console (alt-ctl-f1).
SOLVED -- yippee!
CONSOLE: consolechars -f
where is any item mentioned (sans '.psf.gz' extension)
in the /usr/share/consolefonts/ directory -- e.g.:
