Solved the mount problem with Etch :)
I had to disable device-mapper. I followed the instructions in the
following posting and commented out all references to dm-mod and dm-mirror.

I'm thinking that the problem may not be the kernel after all. I
rebooted using the 2.6.8 kernel and it still didn't work, so now I'm
thinking it may be something in Etch rather than the kernel ??
Should the 2.6.8 Sarge kernel work with an Etch installation ??? It is

My adaptec raid card provides hardware raid, so I don't think I need
mdadm. I certainly did not need it when I was running Sarge/2.6.8, so I
presume that shouldn't need it for Etch/2.6.18.
My mistake. Were you using an in-tree driver f

Did you read and follow the instructions in

I upgraded a backup server from Sarge (2.6.8) to Etch (2.6.18) and it
now fails to boot.
It is getting stuck because it fails an fsck.ext3 on /dev/sda1.
/dev/sda1 is an ADAPTEC RAID card with a number of hard disks. The
module dpt_i2o is loaded. None of the i2o_* modules are loaded.

The problem is to get the updated driver. I understood this to be in
the kernel already but it is not in Debian's kernel (as of May 2006), so

Hi,
I am unable to install Debian on a Supermicro server configured with 2
sata harddrives connected to an Adaptec 2420SA serial RAID pci card.
Although the exact sequence of events differ, I have tried both the
stable and testing installers, each with both 2.4 and 2.6 kernel

Hello everybody,
I'm trying to install debian on a raid system (Promise FastTrak s150 sx
with 3 SATA drives), I downloaded the netinstall iso and tried installing.
Unfortunately the drivers for the raid card aren't there and I don't seem

Hello,
I'm trying to get RAID to work on my server. I got 2 disks (80 GB ATA)
and a motherboard with RAID controller (ASUS PC-DL). The BIOS recognizes
my RAID system, however debian (testing) doesn't. I guess it's a kernel
driver problem, but I have no idea what to include in my k
