Pursuant I choose option 1 how do I tell dpkg to leave vpopmail alone?

For what it's worth we use qmail as per apt-get install qmail-source and
vpopmail 4.10.9 from inter7 with no problems. I cant recall what I did,
but there is an option to build a debian-compatible version of vpopmail
either at inter7's site or in the .configure script.
