I realize that by now you have probably resolved your
editor problem. I like you also I would prefer
something other than vi for editing so I use "joe".
It is available from the 3 cd set and is easy to use.
Works like most MS text editors and to save all you
need to do is a ctrl kx

I am not happy with any of the editors which come with Debian.
I use the editor in Midnight Commander mostly, perhaps a bit of Nano.
Lately though I have taken to using Rhide which is a old IDE which I used to
use in DOS, it has been ported to linux.
I sure some people will scoff, but I woul

No, ae is history as far as Debian's concerned. It's not in Woody at all.
And ed, of course, is not a full-screen editor.
Other small editors to consider are joe and nano.
nano is included in base, I believe. It is a clone of pico, which is
the default editor for pine.
