I had this same problem, so I manually removed woody ppp and installed potato ppp, then marked it 'hold' so that it wouldn't get replaced on the next apt-get upgrade. Since then, ppp demand-dial has been working just great on my woody ipmasq/demand-ppp 56k dail-out box. If you don't need whatev
