as promised, here are the files which you would need to update for adsl usage
1) /etc/resolv.conf
2) /etc/network/interfaces
3) firewall scripts - i am not fimilar with the way debian does this as this
machine is behind a firewall already
1) contains the nameservers and related
I was just pointing out that Earthlink DSL uses pppoe and that the pppoe
packages in stable and testing work with Earthlink's DSL service.

up your workstation just like it's on a local network. i will have to look at
my debian machine at work to give you the exact files to place your ip

2.2r3 (potato) and the testing (woody) distributions using the standard
2.2.19pre17 kernel that installed from the CD.

Well, I have installed and used Libranet for a while and I think it is a
great distro, it is focused on the deskto, easy to install and very easy
to configure... It has a lot of winwow managers, it has Gnome and KDE
preconfigured, lots of apps... I think it is great for a newcomer... I

I'm was in a similar position a year or so back. I used Red Hat for a while
and I must say the install for Red Hat 7.1 is lovely! Now I'm using Debian
Woody and am unlikely to go back. I think the Debian "philosophy" (for want
of a better word) suits me better. As a new user I feel that there i
