I changed a2ps-site.cfg in the following ways:
change DefaultPrinter: | #{lp.default}
to DefaultPrinter: | #{lp}mydefaultprintern

Temporary, I reinstalled the lprng package but could
not print in kde (console, netscape & wordperfect 8 is ok).
