Hi List,
I just found out about "apt-get install quake2" :)
Everything is fine apart from my mouse. It works only horizontally, but
far too quickly, and doesn't seem to respond to the speed setting in the
game settings. I'm using KDE and a Xinerama setup (I think Xinerama
could be the problem here
Hi, I'm trying to run Quake 2 in Debian 2.4.5. I installed it and a new
version of libc5 to satisfy its need for libm.so.5 and such other libs. I
moved quake2.conf to /etc. I put the files in /usr/local/games/quake2 and I
put a copy of all the libs in /lib, /usr/lib, and /usr/local/lib, b
Whenever I try to initialize Quake 2, it says it can't find ref_softx.so.
It's right there in the directory with the binary. I copied all the libraries
to /lib and /usr/lib and even usr/local/lib, but it won't work. I copied
quake2.conf to etc/ and made a symlink to pak0.

I'm trying to run Quake 2 from X, but when I do, it tells me it can't find

anyone know what the problem might be?

I've managed to install quake 2 and get it to run without too many
problems, but whenever I try to refresh the server list it complains
that the broadcast address of 224.1.0.0 is unreachable and no local
servers are displayed.
How can I get quake 2 to broadcast on my local network for avai
If you're using the lastest quake2 package in potato, it's broken very
badly. You'll need quake2_3.20-3.deb.

Has anyone got Quake 2 to work with recent glx/mga CVS? Q3:A demo

Running /usr/games/quake2 +set vid_ref glx +set gl_driver libGL.so

I tried posting to linuxquake.com and got no response..maybe someone here

Quake 2 shareware runs great.. full 3D acceleration (TNT) no crashes no

Killing gpm with `gpm -k' did the trick.

I had a go at running Quake 2 this weekend, with limited success I spent
ages getting all the libc5 stuff,

that there was also a glibc version of quake2, so after attempting to

I am a little further with Quake 2 on Debian 2.0, but I get the following
error:
- Loading ref_soft.so -
Segmentation fault
Anyone an idea?
Regards, Ruud.
I am trying to run Quake 2, but I receive the message:
/dev/dsp: No Such Device
Could not open /dev/dsp
The /dev/dsp is present:
crw-rw-rw-1 root audio 14, 3 Jul 21 02:45 dsp
I've tried as root and with my own userid (member of users).
I am using the OSS Sound drivers. Can so

I recently updated to hamm, and, since I am an avid q2ctf player, installed
quake2. It runs fine under X (using ref_softx), but when I try to run it using
SVGAlib it says "Segmentation Fault" right after it says "Loading ref_soft.so".
I have SVGAlib set up just like I did when I had bo and it use
