This may not be of much help to you but here is my experience...
I have a Promise Technology Ultra 66 IDE controller card as a second
IDE controller on this machine (the first is the motherboard's old
built-in controller).
In order to get the kernel to recognize this new Promise Ultra 66 c

You have to go into "Expert" mode. The command is 'x' with fdisk. I
don't remember for cfdisk.

It really sucks, basically. I found out that I had to track down the
manufacturer of my large hard drive, get the specs from them, and then pass
them on to cfdisk/fdisk and ignore the warnings that those programs gave me. I
also remember that one of them sinply would not work (fdisk, I think)

It has been my experience that the
2FA:
prompt usually occurs when I have screwed up and have more than one partition
flagged as bootable. Does this seem to be the case for more people. or is the
2FA: prompt a kind of 'panic' message from the MBR?

The bootfloppies for Slink don't handle UDMA66. You ne
Is anyone using the Promise Ultra66 controller with Linux?
I put my drive on it, and I get nothing when I boot
the machine. The card shows on the screen with the devices,
but it just flashes the characters
2FA:
on the screen. If I press return, it just repeats the characters. I
disabled my IDE c
