I assume you cannot access your /dev/hde and linux doesn't detect your
Promise ATA 100 interface either?

currently im running a duron 800 on a Asus A7v
mainboard with a IBM ATA 100 hdd
i am having trouble with the ata support and the
hdd naming of "HDE"
ive tried a recompile with 2.4.0 kernel to no avail
does anyone have any ideas?
would a web install somewhat bypass this
problem?

IDE controllers---more specifically, the Promise ATA-100 cards?
Is there support for these in the 2.2 series kernels, or in 2.4?
