Okay, purging and reinstalling CUPS let me print again. This makes the third time I've had to do that in a month. Not a good record. Installing msttcorefonts had no effect on printing from Acrobat Reader, but it DID allow me to print the page correctly from xpdf. Apparently xpdf sil
