Debian's installation (ALT-F1) and install from a CD-ROM... you CD-ROM
device should be called /dev/pcd0.

the hard disk, it can't find the CD-ROM

Basically this is an issue of the Linux kernel and not the used
distribution. I don't know if / how Linux supports those cd

configure it for my parallel port CD-ROM. I've read lots of
documentation and tried several methods:
/dev/hdb
/dev/lp0
/dev/ppa
all to no avail.
I also tried the mount command:
mount -t iso9660 /
