On a wheezy install (basically default from what I can tell), why
would apt-get update try to load Packages file from server when the
server serves Packages.gz and Packages.bz2?
The repo is a http served mirror created with debmirror.

error. I still get the standard red gear wheel on the application bar,
updates are downloaded and installed without problem and the programme

Something that is remarked frequently the last days is, that the
bo (and hamm, btw) Packages.gz on ftp.debian and at master, are out
of date (they have the time stamp Apr 7.) There are a lot of
packages, that can't be accessed via ftp through dselect.
Is anybody out there respon
I just checked the packages.gz in contrib and buzz on
sun10.sep.bnl.gov (in contrib packages.gz is newer than the most recent
package there!) and on some other most uptodate-mirrors. Both packages.gz
don't reflect, what's in the directories for real.
But I noticed at least in contrib,
