Mutt: it's GNU and light weight console program. o->t for threading o->f for author o->d for date sort. Blazing fast. Make sure to spend some time to configure .muttrc file. Otherwize your header disply may be too much (check out ignore *). Check mailheader of knowlegeable poster answering ...
