I'm running Debian Potato and need some web browser with encryption
and some plugins. Mozilla in unstable would not install cleanly so I
tried Netscape 6.1. After a custom install (browser, Java plugin,
Flash plugin) Netscape runs fine, but it does not recognize any
plugins but the libnullplugin.so

The question is: in the apt-upgrade event that fixed the problem, what
packages were upgraded? Based on memory and the timestamps in
/var/cache/apt/archives, I'm certain konqueror and libkonq3 were
upgraded, and

I believe the plugin's a little buggy, but that's a separate issue. To

I'm having trouble setting up the Macromedia Flash plugin in Konqueror.
I have Konqueror 2.1.1 and KDE 2.1.2, on today's woody.
Following the directions, I installed the plugin files in
/usr/lib/netscape/plugins/; now netscape 4.7 undestands Sockwave Flash
just fine.

I'm sync'd to Unstable as of a few days ago. But this is a
problem that's stayed there through many upgrades of Netscape.
It won't recognize plugins.
I have installed RealPlayer via the debian package and it kept
telling me it wasn't installed but then I installed it via the

Sometimes Netscape gives me an error saying it's missing a plugin for the type

I imagine that this question is a FAQ, but I don't know where to find the
answer:
I have Netscape installed, and whenever I try to install a plugin,
netscape stops working (Bus error when trying to start it). The only
solution I have found is removing the plugin.
I have tried with the Java plugi

OK I am useing Debian and Storm Linux with the standard packages. This is
something that I have

I do have the plugger system installed and working right. But I have tried to
install Flash and realplayer
to no luck. My netscape 'about plugins' screen shows them installe
I notice that on my system Netscape 4.51 lists certain common

perl or tcl when these are available on my system already. Can I direct
Netscape to /bin/sh for all applications or do I have to specify each

Curious...
There are alot of plugins available for netscape, but most don't specifically
mention they are for linux - in fact, one of them I tried gave me an .exe.
file to run to install.
Well, obviously, this won't work with Linux... so, which plugins work for
Linux, is there a repository for
Does anyone have experience with Plugger for netscape? I'm trying to
get netscape to recognize it as a plug-in and failing miserably. I've
put pluggerrc in /usr/local/netscape and my .netscape directory, and
plugger.so in both plugin directories, but netscape starts up and
doesnt acknowledge it.

Sorry if this is a FAQ, but I haven't seen it yet in this news group.
It seems that starting with v 4 of Netscape, the plugins no longer
work. For example, when clicking a .pdf file, the script will no load
up acroread, or a .ram will not load up realaudio. I must fall back
to version 3.01 in or
