the drivers you need. This is usually caused by non-NE2000 drivers probing
the NE2000 card; using reserve stops them doing that, and since the NE
driver looks at that address in particular (rather than probing)
it is allowed to have it.

Hi all...
I'm having trouble using an NE2000 network card in Debian.
I've installed debian, alls fine, but whenever I put the network card
in (Which, btw, works fine under dos), the kernel locks up during boot.
The last thing I see before it locks up is: md MAX... and some other
stuff.

I do have that in the file...here is what it looks like:
ifconfig eth0 ${IPADDR} netmask ${NETMASK} broadcast ${BROADCAST}
its basically the default nework file that comes with debian...i do have
all the variables defined.
Thanks

Hello;
I have had this problem for quite a while and am completely lost as to
what to do to fix it. I have had this problem with both Debian 1.3.1 and
Debian 2.0 unstable/frozen. Basically, I install Debian from scratch on
my system. During the install process autoprobe for ne2000 card, it
Package: kernel-image

The kernal in version 1.3.1 has problems with the WD7000 driver. Upon
probing for the WD7000, which I do NOT have in the system, in the initial
boot sequence (for installation) it drops the link light on the hub for the
ne2000 card. Later, when

I have Magitronic EZ2000's, which are NE2000 compatible. I got it to work by
doing the following:

Hi, what is exactly is your problem? If any? I could not get my linux
box to recognise my kingston ethernet card (which emulates a ne2000
card) When I installed the base system I had to choose a DEC-2*** I
can't remember the rest of the name. I hope this is of some use to you.

I must admit to not being very good at X86 comapatiab;e hardware
questiosns. I need to put a 2nd ethernet card in My HP Vectra runing
Debian. I have looked at the FAQ's on this and it looks fairly
straighhtfoward.
The card I presntly have is using IRQ 5 and is at memory address
