Hi,
I need some of the "new" functions of mysql 4.1 (I'm currently on 4.0), and
I think that just apt-installing mysql 4.1 won't work in preserving my
current
databases and tables. I could export everything to text files, unless there
is a way to do it from 4.0 to 4.1.
I am running Etch on an AMD64 system, and I've been trying to install
mySQL 4.1 on it. mySQL 5.0 has some problems with at least one of my
applications -- some new keywords have been added, and these interfere
with column names that the application uses.
In any case, it doesn't seem p

I've tried a variety of configure and 'make' options, all of which
have been giving me shoddy results.
Also, someone finally told me today that they've heard that
debian-based distros are still having problems with some threading
(pthread) libraries - and MySQL relies on them heavily.

Definitely. I was also planning to just backup the binary db files in
hopes I can just drop them into MySQL 4.1.

Hi all,
What's the best way to upgrade from an existing MySQL 4.0 install to
MySQL 4.1? I'm running etch, and I have a number of existing
databases and database users that I want to smoothly upgrade.
I noticed the 4.0 and 4.1 packages conflict, so can I just remove 4.0
and install 4.
Anyone know of a MySQL 4.1 package?
If you want to help debug the 4.1.5 version that's present in
experimental... ; )
Sorry, I didn't know there was an experimental distro :)
Thanks,
Jacob

Hi,
on my UNSTABLE distro, it has 4.0.20. This would mean that you did not
get it from DEBIA

I'm sure someone has, but you're going to need to provide more detail
for us to be able to help you.

Sorry to bug you, but did you ever get MySQL 4.1.x
running on Debian? If so, can you tell me what you
did? Thanks so much.

Hi,
In Sid, MySQL is still version 3.23.
I've just visited http://www.mysql.com/products/mysql-4.0/index.html. I
think it would be great if the version 4.x of MySQL is included in Sid. So
that when Sid is ready to be released, then the version of MySQL in there
would be the latest.
