If Ubuntu detects it correctly, you can boot an Ubuntu live CD and

You can try booting from knoppix live CD and if
it works at that point, copy from ram disk in knoppix to hard disk.

This little gem has an "Intel(r) Pro/1000 MT Mobile Connection" Gigabit
Ethernet card on board.
I am not able to get this working and am therefore stuck since Sarge netinst
CD works but has no network and Sarge full IS

I've been running a 2.2.19 kernel for a while (every brief foray into
2.4 land caused me to immediately go back to 2.2). Once again, i'm
giving it a try, though (2.4.18). I booted into it and there's no
module loaded for my network card (which i didn't even remember what

I'm trying to rebuild my kernel, and my network card does not come up as an
option.
The network card is an rtl8139.
I have the options for 3COM, AMD Lance, and WD cards, but the RealTek option is
grayed out.
I enabled TCP/IP networking.
The last box I had this card in had a vanilla kernel,
