This is new behavior in the new Lenny installation. Under Etch it worked
fine. I have restored the same configuration files that worked before,
but now the modem never answers. The following init-chat line used to work
before:
init-chat "" AT+FCLASS=8 OK ATN1S0=0S13=1 OK

hcfpcimodem-1.08full.tar.gz without
any success. On the last attempt with the .tar.gz file the drivers
apparently loaded successfully
but got an error message saying "modem not found(or recognized) and
afterwards the boot

These modems are driven by proprietary software that has yet to be
released by Rockwell for anything but Winblows. Even so, they place a
performance hit on the CPU since it has to do all the work.
Do yourself a favor and get yourself a real modem.
