Hi, after wondering for ages why I had problems with a Mitsumi CR-4802TE
CD-RW drive not working reliably on a machine with a BIOSTAR M6TLC
motherboard (Intel 440LX chipset, 266 MHz PII, 256 MiB RAM, running Sid
with 2.6.17 kernel compiled for Pentium II at present) with the IDE

Hello Wayne,
I found your message about the Mitsumi cd-rom
player which is rather old message. I came across the same problem while
installing Debian 2.1 (present version is 3.0, the old one is still around) and
I didn't see a solution to the problem.

It is a kernel module with which an IDE drive can be treated as if it
is a scsi drive. The cd-burner program needs this for IDE CD-burners,
since it can only handle SCSI devices.

insmod ide-scsi. (See the CD burner howto).

Works flawlessly with ide-scsi. Simply follow the CDWRITING-HOWTO:

hi does anyone have experience or know
wheter the mitsumi 4802 te works with linux or not?
and if yes how?
i am using kde 2 with debian gnu/linux 2.2 potato

thank you for helping me

Well, I am installing potato from scratch (boot floppies 5-July-2000) in
a COMPAQ Prolinea 5100. The CDROM modules (2 of them) that come with
boot floopies failed to install, one of them even caused kernel panic at
some point. The CDROM is a Mitsumi CRMC-FX162T4. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Antonio.

Hi All,
I've used successfully for ca. two years the Mitsumi CR-2801TE.
Unfortunately, one of my students "upgraded" the drive's firmware to the
1.10 version, and now it stopped to work with Linux.

I have good personal news. I got the kernel to accept my cdrom module for
my old mitsumi. I pulled the interface card and discovered that nothing
seemed to be set to default. I tried changing the I/O jumper to default and
the IRQ switches to default and modconf recognized the first time. I am

therefore I do not have any packages installed. How can I get my cdrom to
work? It is a Mitsumi connected to an interface card. It worked under dos
before I installed. The driver for it was mcdex or something like that.
There was a module during install that should have worked but it failed. (I

You should probably use /dev/mcd (or link /dev/cdrom to /dev/mcd).

cdrom driver correctly after divining the port address, DMA, and IRQ
settings from the interface card. When I boot the OS, the boot banner

I get the
mount usage message, and then a line that says script exited with error
status 1. At this point I can't get any further. This is my first time with
Debian.
By installation I select my Mitsumi CD-Rom (mcd) drive. The
installation-routine
asks for command-line-arguments for the mcd mo

I'm no expert, and this might be of no use at all, but you might want to
use lilo to pass the parameters. The only thing I can suggest is take a
look at the lilo and lilo.conf man pages (sorry to be so vague :)

This is my second request for HELP! with a FX001D Mitsumi CD-ROM drive,
mabe this time I will catch the right person or users that can help me out
here...
I am hopeing that someone that also has a CD-ROM drive the FX001D can help
me out here, in configuring the cd-rom drive, so that when at

When it gets to the point of loading of the cd-rom drive it then loads in
and shows this:
MCD=0X360,11: Mitsumi Status type and version: 10 D 2 Double Speed CD ROM
It works this way but this is not the correct way of setting it up...
So my device for my cdrom drive is not HDC, the device

Running a 486/66/424/20 nothing but Linux. Using a Mitsumi 2x cdrom
connected to an Aztec 8 bit sound card. It is a propriatary driver. The
setup seems to recognize it with a boot parameter entered because of the
IO and IRQ ( linux mcdx=0x320, 11). After getting the base system loaded
