sorry, if that was not clear enough from context:
I searched for a backport of sun java for Sarge (as the program
my children want to run was not happy with the free alternatives)
and installed that with dpkg:
dpkg

My children want to use limewire. They used it on a KNOPPIX installation
where it worked quite good. But now I have installed proper Debian on
their machines and was not able to install limewire/java. I do not
know if it is a limewire or a java problem, but limewire complains
about my java version

Unstable does not contain java runtime packages. Debian does not

With t
a decent alternative to lime is gtk-gnutella...while not as fancy and
pretty as lime, it seems to do the job for me.
(unstable) apt-get install gtk-gnutella

Does anyone know how to get the LimeWire linux client working in
Debian? I keep getting java errors when I use unstable's jdk1.1
package, and Sun's downloadable JRE complains that the file
'libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2' is missing.
Any pointers?

For me it is ok.
LimeWire 1.6
java installed manually in /usr/local/jdk1.3.1_01
Debian Woody; kernel 2.4.12-ac2

Hi - I would like to get LimeWire Gnutella client on my Potato box.
I think that I have managed to get Java set up properly (from the
Sun tarbal), it resides in:
/usr/java/jre1.3.1/
Mozilla seems to be able to find it in there.
If I try to run LimeWire I get:
Unable to initialize threads
