I am having problems with my soundcard and my NIC on my laptop running
woody 2.4.18. (My sound is jumpy and my NIC is sometimes not
identified- this may be related to the state of the sound device
when i power down, but i'm not sure.) laptop=toshiba portege 7140CT

On both my tibook & my ultra 5, I have to manually start enlightenment
sound daemon (esd). I tried setting auto_spawn=1 in /etc/esound/esd.conf,
but it didn't seem to take care of automagically starting it. I could
call it from my .xession, but I don't want it to start when using a WM

I sent a message a while ago asking about this soundcard in a Dell LM166M
laptop and got several responses. Unfortunately, I still have not been able
to get the soundcard set up.
How can I figure out all the settings that I need to put in for it?

what kind of soundchip does it have? i set up a Gateway Solo 2300 LS
with a Yamaha YM715 soundchip and it works fine for me.
