On my new woody system tmview shows a lot of fonts just as squares
when viewing a dvi file.
I also tried out mldvi today.
I complains about not finding phvr8 and says "Transcript written on

Aren't the LaTeX fonts scalable post-script fonts? I wonder if it is
possible to use, say, the cm-family font just like "normal" X-fonts, eg.
for the GIMP. The idea comes from my need for images containing text.

can run which would check for the fonts installed on my system and write out a
tex file repeating some phrase in the different avaliable fonts. This is so I
can actuall see what the different fonts look like..
