Also, you may want to try using the Debian linux-image-2.6.24 package¹. I
think it corresponds to 2.6.24.7, so if it works you should be able to install
linux-source-2.6.24², patch that source with the realtime patches, and then
use make-kpkg in the kernel-pa

If the stock Debian kernel works, have you tried using that config for your
kernel?
This is something that I have avoided as I have read in various places
that there are often incompatible changes between minor versions (like
from 2.6.18 to 2.6.24). This also
Hi Mike
Out of curiosity, how do your lockups manifest themselves? Do you get
a flashing CAPS-LOCK light, perchance?
What you are seeing is a kernel panic. If you want to debug that,
Google for "magic sysrq" - it should get you on the right track. (It's
a kernel configuration option that

Hi
Just to give a little background, after 3 years of running Gentoo (and
SuSE previously,) I have given up due to the impossible maintenance
burden and am migrating back to a binary distribution. Having sworn off
RPMs for life, I have chosen Debian as the most mature and mainstream
distro.
Hi,
I just ran into some troubles with the IO system of a new server running
Debian Etch (2.6.18-6-vserver-amd64 (Debian 2.6.18.dfsg.1-18etch1)) and
was wondering whether these might be related to some SB600 patches which
might not yet be part of the Debian kernel.
The problem occurs with both di

Hello,
I am upgrading a firewall from Sarge to Etch.
On this machine, I have 3 network cards.
2 networks cards are identical. It is PCI network
cards and it is SMC1233A-TX.
On Sarge, everything worked well.
The issue is that only one card of both is available.
The used kernel is 2.6.18.

I currently have an install of Woody 3.0r1 with the "2.4.18-bf2.4 #1 Son Apr
14 09:53:28 CEST 2002 i686 GNU/Linux" kernel.
I have been following the Debian security announcements and I am aware of
the kernel security vulnerabilities. I would therefore like to upgrade as
soon as possible, really.

Hi:
I almost hosed my booting capabilities.
I can boot the rescue kernel 2.2.20-compact from the harddrive.
Unable to make a boot floppy that works though, error durring boot from
floppy... kernel panic does not know where init is.
For some reason, I had to install lilo on the /boot partition an
